Implantation, as intervention
Implantation is an essential part of modern dentistry. It provides the possibility to replace one or more teeth, even in case of complete toothlessness (edentulism) by preparing aesthetic and functional perfect, fixed or removable dentures. A dental implant is a titanium post (like a tooth root) that is surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line that allows your dentist to mount replacement teeth or a bridge into that area. Titan doesn’t corrode or irritate the surrounding tissue, it is biocompatible, therefore it inserts perfectly into the bone tissue. In case of the replacement of one tooth a crown can be placed, in case of more teeth inserted dental implants can be function as stable and reliable pillars for dental bridges or even a complete set of teeth / denture. The implant-supported dentures resemble the aesthetic of natural teeth the most, they are able to assume the role of the lost teeth and their capacity is the same.
The dental implant, inserted into the bone, replaces the root of the natural tooth, so it doesn’t stand out of the bone or the gum. The interior of the implant is hollow, after the healing period the abutment will be screwed into it. This is the part of the denture, which lies above the surface of the bone and the gum. The dental implant can be prepared either of titanium or metal-free zircon. A dental crown with a metal framework is placed on the titanium abutment, and a crown with zircon framework is placed on the zircon implant. Both are covered with an aesthetic and natural-looking ceramic cover, which give the final colour and form of the teeth. Nevertheless the application of zircon abutments in case of front teeth is more recommended, because of aesthetic consideration, while in case of back teeth titanium can be used, as well. The replacement of three adjacent teeth can be solved by dental crowns, based on three implants, or with only two implants and a three-unit dental bridge. A complete denture can also be prepared by means of a zircon or metal-ceramics bridge, supported by 6-8 dental implants.
Immediate implant placement
The insertion of the implant can take place immediately after extraction of the natural teeth. This solution is applied especially in case of front teeth. The advantages of this procedure include fewer surgical interventions, reduction in overall treatment time, reduced soft and hard tissue loss, and psychological satisfaction to the patient. By this method the so-called ‘pink-white” soft tissue condition around the implant-supported denture can be achieved. The application of implants appropriate for this technique is recommended. IMMEDIATE TEMPORARY DENTURES: In case of a missing tooth at an easily visible location or of great volume, or which occurred suddenly the possibility of the preparation of immediate temporary dentures is given. In this case simplified temporary dentures can be placed on the day of implantation or at most within 1-2 days after implantation.
